An island church on an alpine lake
Lake Bled is Slovenia's postcard view: an emerald lake with a church on a small island, a medieval castle on a cliff and the Julian Alps behind. Row or take a traditional pletna boat to the island and ring the church bell for luck, then walk the path around the lake. Climb to the Ojstrica or Mala Osojnica viewpoints for the classic view, and try the local cream cake, kremšnita. The larger, wilder Lake Bohinj is a short drive away.
