Tree-climbing lions and the Kazinga Channel
Queen Elizabeth National Park lies beneath the Rwenzori Mountains in western Uganda, between Lake George and Lake Edward. The Kazinga Channel links the two lakes and draws huge numbers of hippos, buffalo and elephants, best seen from a boat. In the southern Ishasha sector, lions are known for resting in the branches of fig trees. The park also includes crater lakes, the Maramagambo Forest and the Kyambura Gorge, a sunken forest where chimpanzees can be tracked.
