Thundering Victoria Falls and walking safaris in true wilderness.
Zambia is safari country with space to spare. Victoria Falls, known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya, thunders on the Zambezi near Livingstone, and in the dry season you can swim at the Devil's Pool on the lip of the falls. South Luangwa is famed for leopards and walking safaris, the Lower Zambezi for canoe trips past elephants, and Kafue is one of Africa's largest parks.
Trips are about remote bush camps, knowledgeable guides and very few vehicles. Nshima with relish is the everyday staple. June to October is the dry season and prime time for wildlife, though October is very hot; many bush camps close in the rains from roughly December to March, and the falls are fullest around March to May.
