Lower Zambezi National Park

Canoes, elephants and the Zambezi escarpment

Lower Zambezi National Park runs along the northern bank of the Zambezi, facing Zimbabwe's Mana Pools across the water. Behind the floodplain rises a steep escarpment, and between them elephants, buffalo, lions and leopards move through winterthorn woodland. Canoeing along the side channels brings you very close to hippos and elephants drinking at the water's edge. Tiger fishing is popular, and lodges run boat trips, game drives and walks. The park is reached by road and boat or by light aircraft from Lusaka.
