Livingstone

Adventure town on the Zambian side of the falls

Livingstone, named after the Scottish explorer David Livingstone, sits a few kilometres from Victoria Falls on the Zambian bank of the Zambezi. From this side, the Knife-Edge Bridge crosses through spray in front of the Eastern Cataract, and in the low-water months guided trips reach Livingstone Island and the natural pool on the lip of the falls. The Livingstone Museum holds letters and relics of the explorer, and Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park has rhinos. Lodges line the river upstream, with sunset cruises and canoe trips.
