Jericoacoara

Sand-street village of dunes and kitesurfing

Jericoacoara sits in a national park on the coast of Ceará, reached by 4x4 across the dunes, and its streets are still sand. The routine is simple: kitesurfing or windsurfing in the reliable winds, then climbing the Duna do Pôr do Sol to watch the sun go down over the sea. Walk to the Pedra Furada rock arch along the shore, and take buggy trips to the Lagoa do Paraíso and Lagoa Azul, freshwater lagoons with hammocks strung in the shallows. Evenings bring caipirinhas and forró.
