Mountains, ocean and forest on the city's doorstep
Few cities have a setting like Vancouver's, with glass towers on a peninsula ringed by water and snow-capped mountains rising just across the harbour. Stanley Park's seawall makes a superb walk or cycle, Granville Island's public market is a feast, and Gastown keeps the city's older brick streets. The Asian food, especially sushi and dim sum, is outstanding. Ski or hike on Grouse Mountain, cross the Capilano Suspension Bridge, or take the Sea-to-Sky Highway to Whistler and the ferry to Vancouver Island.
