Red Sea reefs at the tip of Sinai
Sharm el-Sheikh is a resort town of hotels and beaches at the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, and its main attraction is underwater. Ras Mohammed National Park protects coral reefs and walls rich in marine life, and the Straits of Tiran are among the Red Sea's best dives. The wreck of the SS Thistlegorm, a Second World War cargo ship, lies within reach by boat. Naama Bay is the centre of evening life, and trips run inland to Mount Sinai and the desert.
