The richest reefs on Earth
Raja Ampat, meaning Four Kings, is an archipelago of hundreds of islands off the western tip of New Guinea, at the heart of the Coral Triangle. Scientists have recorded more species of coral and reef fish here than anywhere else on Earth, making it a dream for divers and snorkellers. Above water, the mushroom-shaped karst islands of Wayag and Piaynemo form one of Indonesia's most famous views. Visitors stay in simple homestays, eco-resorts or on liveaboard boats; getting there takes time.
