Lagoons and limestone islands in Palawan
El Nido, at the northern tip of Palawan, looks out over Bacuit Bay, scattered with dozens of jagged limestone islands. Island-hopping tours, labelled A to D, lead by outrigger bangka boat to the Big and Small Lagoons, where you kayak between cliffs, the Secret Lagoon behind a narrow gap in the rock, and beaches such as Seven Commandos. On land, Nacpan Beach is a long, curving stretch of sand, and the town's seafront bars and restaurants fill up at sunset.
