Temples, street food and a river that never sleeps
Bangkok is a sprawling, humid capital where gilded temples stand beside glass towers and canal-side wooden houses. Start on the Chao Phraya river at the Grand Palace and Wat Pho, home of the great Reclining Buddha, then cross by ferry to Wat Arun. Chinatown's Yaowarat Road comes alive at night with noodle and seafood stalls, the Chatuchak weekend market sells almost everything, and the Skytrain makes the modern city easy to navigate between malls, parks and rooftop bars.
