Full-moon parties and quiet coves
Ko Pha Ngan is best known for the Full Moon Party, when Haad Rin Sunrise beach fills with revellers, buckets and fire shows. The rest of the island is much quieter. The north and west coasts have calm, shallow beaches such as Thong Nai Pan and Haad Salad, and the interior is covered in jungle with waterfalls and viewpoints. The island also has a long-standing wellness scene, with yoga, meditation and detox retreats clustered around Sri Thanu.
