Ancient rainforest and floating bungalows
Khao Sok National Park protects a rainforest in southern Thailand older than the Amazon, with limestone karsts rising out of dense jungle. Guided treks and river tubing start near the park headquarters, where gibbons and hornbills are often heard before they are seen. The highlight is Cheow Lan Lake, a vast reservoir of green water between towering cliffs, where you can sleep in floating bungalows, kayak into quiet coves and explore caves. The giant rafflesia flower blooms here in season.
