Turquoise bays beneath limestone walls
The Phi Phi Islands are a small group of limestone islands in the Andaman Sea. Phi Phi Don, the larger, has the village of Tonsai, a narrow isthmus of beaches and bars, and a steep viewpoint over both bays. Phi Phi Leh is uninhabited and ringed by cliffs, sheltering the Pileh Lagoon and Maya Bay, made famous by the film The Beach and now carefully managed so the reef can recover. Snorkelling, kayaking and boat trips around both islands fill the days.
