Marble streets inside mighty sea walls
Dubrovnik was a wealthy maritime republic for centuries, and its Old Town remains enclosed by some of the finest city walls in Europe. Walk the full circuit of the walls for views over orange rooftops and the sea, then stroll the polished Stradun, the main street. Take the cable car up Mount Srđ at sunset, kayak around the walls or take a boat to the forested island of Lokrum. Cruise ships make midday busy; mornings and evenings are calmer.
