Pintxos bars and a perfect shell-shaped bay
San Sebastián, or Donostia in Basque, wraps around La Concha, a shell-shaped bay often called one of the finest city beaches in Europe. The old town, the Parte Vieja, is packed with pintxos bars where counters are piled with small bites and locals hop from one to the next. The city also has a remarkable concentration of Michelin-starred restaurants. Walk or take the funicular up Monte Igueldo for the view, surf at Zurriola beach, and try the local cider and txakoli wine.
