A calm, green capital on the Atlantic
Rabat is Morocco's capital and its most relaxed big city, with tree-lined avenues and a medina where you can browse without pressure. The Kasbah of the Udayas, painted blue and white, sits on a bluff above the mouth of the Bou Regreg river, with the Andalusian Gardens inside. The unfinished twelfth-century Hassan Tower stands beside the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the Chellah necropolis mixes Roman ruins and Marinid tombs, with storks nesting on the minarets.
