A canyon system deeper than the Grand Canyon
The Copper Canyon is a system of six canyons in Chihuahua's Sierra Madre, larger overall than the Grand Canyon and in places deeper. The El Chepe railway, one of the great train journeys of the Americas, runs between Chihuahua and Los Mochis, winding through tunnels and over bridges. At Divisadero, cable car and zipline rides span the canyon rim. The Rarámuri, also called Tarahumara, live here and are famed for long-distance running. Creel is the main base for trips to lakes, waterfalls and rock formations.
