Talavera tiles and the home of mole
Puebla's historic centre is one of the best preserved in Mexico, its buildings decorated with painted Talavera tiles and its cathedral among the largest in the country. The Rosary Chapel in the Church of Santo Domingo is covered almost entirely in gilded carving. Puebla is also a food capital, the home of mole poblano and chiles en nogada. Nearby Cholula has the Great Pyramid, the largest by volume in the world, topped by a church with views of the Popocatépetl volcano.
