Pacific sunsets and a cobbled old town
Puerto Vallarta keeps the feel of a real Mexican town despite its popularity. The Malecón seafront promenade is lined with sculptures and bars, and the cobbled streets of the old centre climb towards the crowned Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The Zona Romántica has the best restaurants and a well-known LGBTQ+ scene. Boats reach beaches accessible only by water, such as Yelapa, and from December to March humpback whales arrive in the Bay of Banderas. The surf town of Sayulita lies just to the north.
