A festival city surrounded by wine country
Adelaide is a gracious, easy-going city laid out in a grid and surrounded by parkland. Its North Terrace cultural boulevard holds the Art Gallery of South Australia and the South Australian Museum, with its fine collection of Aboriginal culture. The Adelaide Central Market is one of the largest covered food markets in the Southern Hemisphere. In February and March the city hosts the Adelaide Festival and Fringe. Its great draw is wine: the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills are all close by.
