A subtropical river city
Brisbane is a relaxed, subtropical city built on the bends of the Brisbane River. South Bank, the riverside cultural precinct, has the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art, parklands and a free man-made beach, and CityCat ferries glide up and down the river. The Story Bridge can be climbed, and Mount Coot-tha gives the view over the city. Koalas can be seen at the Lone Pine Sanctuary, and the sand islands of Moreton Bay are an easy trip.
