Cardiff

A castle in the middle of the Welsh capital

Cardiff grew from a small town into the world's busiest coal port in the 19th century, and the wealth transformed Cardiff Castle into a Victorian Gothic fantasy wrapped around a Norman keep. The Principality Stadium, in the city centre, roars on rugby match days. Cardiff Bay has been redeveloped around the Wales Millennium Centre and the Senedd, the Welsh Parliament. Victorian shopping arcades and the National Museum are highlights, and St Fagans open-air museum and Castell Coch are nearby.
