Revolutionary history and red-brick charm
Boston is where much of the American Revolution began, and the Freedom Trail, a red-brick line on the pavement, links sixteen historic sites from Boston Common to the Old North Church and the USS Constitution. Beacon Hill's gas-lit lanes and the North End's Italian bakeries are made for walking, and Harvard and MIT lie just across the river in Cambridge. The Museum of Fine Arts and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum are excellent, and a clam chowder or lobster roll is almost compulsory. Fenway Park is baseball's oldest major league stadium.
