Denali

North America's highest peak and Alaskan wilderness

Denali National Park protects a vast swathe of tundra, taiga and glaciers around Denali, at 6,190 metres the highest mountain in North America. Only one road runs into the park, and beyond the first stretch private cars aren't allowed, so most people explore by park bus, scanning for grizzly bears, moose, caribou and Dall sheep. The mountain makes its own weather and is often hidden by cloud, which makes a clear view all the more memorable. Flightseeing trips from Talkeetna land on glaciers on the mountain's flanks.
