Coffee, seafood and views of Mount Rainier
Seattle sits on hills above Puget Sound, with snow-capped Mount Rainier appearing on the skyline on clear days. Pike Place Market, open since 1907, is the heart of the city, full of fish stalls, flower sellers and small eateries. The Space Needle and the Museum of Pop Culture are next to each other at Seattle Center, and ferries cross the Sound to Bainbridge Island with views back to the city. It's a coffee city, a seafood city and a gateway to the Olympic Peninsula, the San Juan Islands and Mount Rainier National Park.
