Music City, honky-tonks and hot chicken
Nashville is built on music. Lower Broadway's honky-tonks have live bands playing from late morning into the night, the Ryman Auditorium is known as the mother church of country music, and the Grand Ole Opry still broadcasts its weekly radio show. The Country Music Hall of Fame tells the story, and small venues like the Bluebird Cafe showcase songwriters. Hot chicken is the local dish, served as fiery as you can take it, and neighbourhoods like East Nashville and 12 South have a quieter local feel.
